Sense of Place

In the Summer of 2022 I was a resident artist in Paoli, IN at the Black Vulture Project (BVP) in collaboration with Indiana University’s Center for Rural Engagement. The BVP connects the arts community and hosts creators of all kinds. This video characterizes a broader sense of place in Paoli and how the BVP helps nourish this resilient community.

Traditional Arts Indiana

Traditional Arts Indiana is dedicated to expanding awareness of Indiana's traditional practices and nurturing a sense of pride among local, traditional artists.

The residency experience has made me aware that meaningful relationships are at the core of how I make art. When I first arrived, I was overwhelmed by the lack of consecutiveness of art in Paoli. So, I started building one-on-one relationships – really friendships – with makers [that] have led me to small communities of people interested in art.
